Argall seeks 13th term in state House

The Reading Eagle is reporting that state Rep. David Argall, R-Berks/Schuylkill, will seek a 13th term in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

Argall has held the 124th House District seat for 24 years and has risen to the post of House Republican Whip, which is the No. 2 leadership post in the House GOP caucus.

Argall is the highest-ranking lawmaker in Harrisburg to push for the elimination of property taxes. That might be enough for voters in the 124th District to forgive Argall for voting in favor of the July 2005 legislative pay raise.

Argall told the newspaper he will continue to push for property tax relief despite setbacks this week when House Democrats blocked a plan by Rep. Sam Rohrer, R-Berks, to eliminate property taxes.

It's unlikely Argall will face a challenger in the April 22 primary, but he is slated to face Democrat William J. Mackey in the fall. Mackey ran against Argall in 2006.
