Editorial: First lady's Oscar appearance a step too far

You know you've overstayed your welcome when liberal newspapers are taking pot shots at you.

From the very left-of-center Delaware County Daily Times in Pennsylvania:
If anyone else is wondering what first lady Michelle Obama was doing Sunday night presenting the Academy Award for best picture via remote from the White House, join the club.
In a country as divided as ours, such reminders further divide instead of unite.
Sometimes staying out of the spotlight is the smartest thing an actor or a politician can do.

Columnist: The Left Is Out of Ideas

Peter Heck, writing at American Thinker, exposes the bankrupt policies of Barack Obama and the Democratic Party that have prolonged the suffering of the American people:
With a little over a year to go until the next national election cycle is complete, it has become apparent that from an economic standpoint, the SS Liberal has officially run out of steam. Hull weighted down with the barnacles of false promises and rudder crippled by the reckless mismanagement of a spendthrift captain from Chicago, she sits there floundering in a sea of unemployment and malaise not experienced since Jimmy Carter was at the helm.

Obama White House Ignores Easter

Presidential Proclamations are issued for all sorts of events, so you'd think acknowledging the most important holiday on the Christian calendar would be a no-brainer.

But this is the Obama White House we're dealing with here.

Somewhere between issuing proclamations for "Cesar Chavez Day" and "Earth Day," the Obama White House failed to recognize Easter.

Why is Glenn Beck leaving his Fox News show?

Why is Glenn Beck leaving his Fox News show? The Christian Science Monitor: "Analysts suggest viewers and advertisers tired of his conspiracy theories and antics."

Interesting theory. I'm not a regular viewing of Beck's program, but I've seen enough of his shows. If Glenn Beck is right about even half of the stuff he's uncovered about the Obama Administration, we're all screwed.

Jon Stewart Undresses Obama on Libya

I'm not a fan of Jon Stewart, but he's a very bright man. When he puts down the Kool-Aid and stops carrying water for the Democratic Party, he can be a very effective political commentator.

Kratuhammer: Massacre, Followed By Libel

From Charles Krauthammer:
The charge: The Tucson massacre is a consequence of the "climate of hate" created by Sarah Palin, the tea party, Glenn Beck, Obamacare opponents and sundry other liberal betes noires.

The verdict: Rarely in American political discourse has there been a charge so reckless, so scurrilous, and so unsupported by evidence.

The Usual Suspects

Columnist: The charlatan's response

George F. Will exposes the political opportunists on the far left who attempted to use the Arizona shooting tragedy to promote their own agendas.

From his latest column:
Three days before Tucson, Howard Dean explained that the tea party movement is "the last gasp of the generation that has trouble with diversity." Rising to the challenge of lowering his reputation and the tone of public discourse, Dean smeared tea partiers as racists: They oppose Obama's agenda, Obama is African-American, ergo ...

Let us hope that Dean is the last gasp of the generation of liberals whose default position in any argument is to indict opponents as racists. This McCarthyism of the left — devoid of intellectual content, unsupported by data — is a mental tic, not an idea but a tactic for avoiding engagement with ideas. It expresses limitless contempt for the American people, who have reciprocated by reducing liberalism to its current characteristics of electoral weakness and bad sociology.

Columnist: The 20 Most Annoying Liberals of 2010

The list could include 200 people, but columnist John Hawkins has come up with the 20 most annoying liberals of 2010.

Making the list are such left-wing luminaries as Joe Biden, Michael Bloomberg, Joy Behar, Chris Matthews, Meghan McCain, Keith Olbermann, Helen Thomas, Barney Frank and Nancy Pelosi.

And it isn't hard to guess who made it to the No. 1 spot as the most annoying liberal.

'The Arizona Tragedy and the Politics of Blood Libel'

Glenn Reynolds, writing in The Wall Street Journal, points out the outrageous behavior of the mainstream media following Saturday's tragic shootings in Arizona.

"Those who purport to care about the tenor of political discourse don't help civil debate when they seize on any pretext to call their political opponents accomplices to murder," Reynolds writes.
