Bad publicity involving a township official who got into a barroom brawl may have cost Tom Orth his elected office, but Orth avoided jail.
A Berks County judge sentenced Orth to one-year probation for kicking a police officer in the private parts following an altercation at a bar.
Orth lost his bid for re-election last year as publicity over his arrest made front-page news in the Reading Eagle.
