Ex-township supervisor gets probation in brawl

Bad publicity involving a township official who got into a barroom brawl may have cost Tom Orth his elected office, but Orth avoided jail.

A Berks County judge sentenced Orth to one-year probation for kicking a police officer in the private parts following an altercation at a bar.

Orth lost his bid for re-election last year as publicity over his arrest made front-page news in the Reading Eagle.
