Columnist: Gun-control targets law-abiding citizens
Columnist Paul Carpenter raises some common-sense concerns about the rush for new gun-control measures in the wake of the Colorado movie theater shootings.
From Carpenter's column:
Nnearly all of the worst gun tragedies of America in recent years had one thing in common. They occurred in places where law-abiding individuals were prohibited from having weapons. The Aurora theater was part of a chain that did not allow armed customers, even if they were licensed to carry concealed weapons.Paul Carpenter: Aurora, the Amish school and other rampages had one thing in common
The gunmen who went on those rampages were not totally crazy. They were rational enough to select places where they knew nobody would shoot back. If they really were crazy, we'd be hearing about their rampages inside police stations.
As for guns falling into the hands of bad people, a horrible example of that was the recent Fast and Furious scandal. In that case, it was federal law enforcement authorities who sold firearms — 2,500 of them — to criminals from Mexico, then lost track of nearly every weapon. Some of those weapons, the government admitted, were then used to murder hundreds of people.

Senior Gun Rights Activist Blasts Obama at July 4th TEA Party
"Obama's shifts of positions on gun rights makes me think of a snake on roller skates," said John M. Snyder at a suburban Washington, D.C., Fourth of July TEA Party. "The President slithers and shimmies in the White House, throughout the country, and on the issues."

Imagine if the people of Iran owned guns

This is the gun control debate in a nutshell. Governments don't want citizens to own guns so the people can never stand up to a tyrannical government. How different things would have turned out in Iran if the people had more than stones to fight back with against the government thugs carrying the guns.

Obama's Anti-Gun Strategy Is to Stack Courts
The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms believes Barack Obama's appointment of Sonia Sotomayor, an advocate of gun control, to the Supreme Court, is part of Obama's overall strategy to ignore the Second Amendment and deny American citizens their Second Amendment right to bear arms.

Group: Judge Sotomayor is anti-gun
The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms warns that Judge Sonia Sotomayor is a longtime opponent of Second Amendment rights to gun ownership.
From a CCRKBA release:
Obama's Court Nomination Validates America's Rush to Buy Firearms
From a CCRKBA release:
Judge Sotomayor was part of a Second Circuit Court panel that ruled in January that the Second Amendment does not apply to the states, in Maloney v. Cuomo. That is in direct conflict with a Ninth Circuit opinion earlier this spring in Nordyke v. King that the Second Amendment is incorporated to the states, and therefore does place limits on states' ability to regulate the individual right to keep and bear arms.Read the full release at the link below:
"A Supreme Court nominee's philosophy generally reflects the philosophy of the president that nominates them," CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb said. "Judge Sotomayor's position on the Second Amendment is a clear signal that Mr. Obama's claim that he supports gun rights is nothing but lip service from a man who consistently argued and voted against those rights in the Illinois Senate and the U.S. Senate. American gun owners have every reason to oppose this nomination, and let their senators know why."

Sotomayor nomination bad for gun owners
The nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to replace retiring Justice David Souter on the U.S. Supreme Court is a slap at gun rights and the Second Amendment, according to the Second Amendment Foundation.
"While Democrats in Congress have been making great strides in the gun rights arena, refusing to consider a renewal of the Clinton gun ban, and offering overwhelming bipartisan support for legislation allowing citizens to carry firearms in national parks, President Obama just demonstrated that he prefers judges who oppose Second Amendment rights," said SAF founder Alan M. Gottlieb.

Milwaukee Police Chief Plans to Disarm Citizens By Force
Second Amendment rights? Not in Milwaukee, where the police chief has issued orders to "take down" legal gun owners and disarm them. Just another sign of things to come in Obama's America.

1,000 rally in Harrisburg to protect gun rights
Some 1,000 gun owners rallied Tuesday at the state Capitol in Harrisburg to protect their Second Amendment right to bear arms.
Many of the people attending the rally feel threatened by left-wing politicians like Barack Obama and Ed Rendell, who are pushing gun control measures.
The rally attracted John Sigler, the head of the National Rifle Association.
Interestingly, the Associated Press estimated that crowd at "hundreds" in its reporting instead of the 1,000 other media outlets counted.
It's not the first time the wire service has downplayed attendance at rallies that are not supported by the liberal media. Same thing happened with the Tea Parties tax protests on April 15, as well as property tax rallies and the rally to defend the 10th Amendment.
