9/11: Some Say, “Always Remember,” But Many Have Already Forgotten
9/11: Some Say, “Always Remember,” But Many Have Already Forgotten: This forgetting takes the form of opening the West, including our political institutions, to the same ideology that killed 2,977 people on American soil.

X Marks The Spot

Time magazine is releasing a special issue on the death of Osama bin Laden, scheduled to hit newsstands on Thursday, May 5, 2011.
Here's a bit of trivia: This is the fourth time a Time cover featured a red "X" over the face of a deceased person. The others? Adolf Hitler on May 7, 1945, Saddam Hussein on April 21, 2003, and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi on June 19, 2006.

Columnist: Significance of Osama bin Laden death cannot be overstated
Excellent instant analysis of the death of Osama bin Laden by John R. Guardiano posted at The American Spectator:
"... the psychological effects of bin Laden's confirmed death cannot be overstated. He loomed large in the Islamist imagination. And the fact that the United States seemed unable to kill or capture him for so long emboldened our enemies and instilled fear and apprehension in our friends and allies."Read the full post here.
President Bush Issues Statement on Death of bin Laden
Statement of George W. Bush on the death of Osama bin Laden:
Earlier this evening, President Obama called to inform me that American forces killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of the al Qaeda network that attacked America on September 11, 2001. I congratulated him and the men and women of our military and intelligence communities who devoted their lives to this mission. They have our everlasting gratitude. This momentous achievement marks a victory for America, for people who seek peace around the world, and for all those who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001. The fight against terror goes on, but tonight America has sent an unmistakable message: No matter how long it takes, justice will be done.

Greek Orthodox Church Renews Fight Over Ground Zero Site
From a story by Josh Barbanel in The Wall Street Journal:
The leaders of St. Nicholas Church, the small whitewashed Greek Orthodox Church destroyed by falling debris on Sept. 11, 2001, have begun legal action against the Port Authority demanding that the church be rebuilt under the terms of a deal worked out several years ago.Read the full story at the newspaper's website.
A claim filed against the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey by church leaders and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America on Monday accused the agency, which is overseeing Ground Zero's rebuilding, of engaging in "arrogance, bad faith and fraudulent conduct" and "shabby and unlawful treatment."
Under state law, the church is required to file a notice of claim against the Port Authority for some of its claims, and wait 60 days before it can go to court, according to Mark. G. Cunha, a lawyer for the church.

Columnist: Time To Profile Terrorists At US Airports
I'm with Deroy Murdock. Profile the potential terrorists instead of groping innocent Americans.
From his latest column:
From his latest column:
At a Monday night Intelligence Squared debate on this topic at New York University, one of my opponents was Debra Burlingame, sister of Charles Burlingame, the pilot of American Airlines Flight 77, which al-Qaeda smashed into the Pentagon. She cited her conversation with an American Airlines customer-service agent who worked on September 11. He checked in Nawaf and Salem al-Hazmi, two of those who hijacked that Boeing 757. While American’s seasoned employee found these two suspicious, Burlingame says he told her he did not flag them for further scrutiny "because I didn't want my colleague to think that I was a racist and a bigot."Time To Profile Terrorists At US Airports - HUMAN EVENTS
Such political correctness eventually will kill innocent civilians. It’s past time to employ terrorist profiling to shield Americans from those who want to murder us.
