Tea Party Rally in Phoenixville on April 15

The Valley Forge Patriots is sponsoring a Tax Day Tea Party Rally in Phoenixville, from 5 to 7 PM on Friday, April 15, at the corner of Bridge and Main Streets.

"We are urging folks to come out and join us," said Betty Dunkel of the Valley Forge Patriots. "We need to let our legislators know that we are Taxed Enough Already and they need to reduce taxes and cut spending."

The Valley Forge Patriots are a conservative political education and action group that meets the second Friday of every month at PJ Ryans in Phoenixville. The group welcomes new members who are interested in learning the Constitution, holding elected officials accountable, and believe in smaller government and personal responsibility.

Berks County Patriots sponsor Immigration Forum

The Berks County Patriots, along with UNITED PA-912 and RePatriot Radio, is sponsoring a forum on immigration Saturday, Feb. 19, at noon at the Leesport Farmers Market.

Nationally known speakers and local elected officials will take part in the discussion of various immigration issues.

Among those scheduled to take part in the forum are U.S. Congressman Lou Barletta, PA State Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, Berks County Commissioner Mark C. Scott, Berks County Sheriff Eric Weaknecht, Ted Hayes of American Black Shield, Anna Gaines of American Citizens United, and a representative of Numbers USA.

The moderator for the forum will be former PA State Rep. Sam Rohrer.

The event is open to the public.

Congratulations to all the tea party-backed candidates who overcame a determined, partisan opposition to win their elections. The next campaign begins today. Because you must now overcome determined party insiders if this nation is going to be spared from fiscal disaster.

Many of the people who will be welcoming the new class of Senate conservatives to Washington never wanted you here in the first place. The establishment is much more likely to try to buy off your votes than to buy into your limited-government philosophy. Consider what former GOP senator-turned-lobbyist Trent Lott told the Washington Post earlier this year: "As soon as they get here, we need to co-opt them."

Marxist Coons beats O'Donnell in Delaware

Months of non-stop character assassination by the liberal media appears to have cost Christine O'Donnell any chance of winning the special election for Delaware's open Senate seat.

Democrat Chris Coons easily won Delaware's Senate race Tuesday over Republican Christine O'Donnell, a tea party favorite who struggled to shake old cable-show footage in which she spoke out against masturbation and talked about dabbling in witchcraft as a teenager.

Based on an AP analysis of preliminary exit polling data, Coons defeated O'Donnell, an evangelical outsider whose stunning upset in the September GOP primary likely cost Republicans the race. Her opponent in the primary, congressman and former governor Mike Castle, had been considered a shoo-in to win Vice President Joe Biden's old seat.

Independence Hall Tea Party endorsements

The Independence Hall Tea Party PAC, the only federally registered Tea Party PAC in the tri-state (DE, NJ, PA) area, expects to help Republicans capture Congress by supporting its endorsed candidates.

"We endorsed 13 terrific regional Congressional candidates in the primary and two additional candidates in the general election, and feel more than confident that a majority of them will win," said PAC President Don Adams. "In the primary, we won 10 out of 12 contested races. We think we'll do almost as well in the General election.

Here are the 2010 PAC endorsed candidates:

Berks Tea Party hosts 'Candidates Night' on Oct. 13

The Berks Tea Party Patriots will host a Candidates Night on Wednesday, Oct. 13, from 6:45 to 9 p.m. at Calvary Community Center, 201 Noble St., Reading.

Candidates for Pennsylvania governor, US Senate from Pennsylvania, Congressional districts in Berks County and the Pennsylvania Legislature have been invited to attend.

Among the candidates confirmed are: Rep. Joe Pitts, Rep. Tim Holden, State Sen. David Argall, State Sen. Mike Folmer and State Reps. Mark Gillen, Dave Maloney, Mike Tobash, Jerry Knowles and Doug Reichley.
