Fed chair Powell says illegals are why unemployment is rising
Fed chair Powell says illegals are why unemployment is rising: If you import 20 million people into an economy that doesn't have room for them, don't be surprised if unemployment goes up.
That's not Donald Trump speaking, it's what Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, a guy who tends to side with Joe Biden, found when he cut interest rates 50 basis points yesterday. It's also basic economics.

Record 95,102,000 Americans Not in Labor Force; Number Grew 18% Since Obama Took Office in 2009: The government collects payroll taxes from Americans who work, and some of that money is spent on government programs that support people who do not work.

Youth Prefer Jobs to 'Hope and Change'
From Commentary magazine: : The president is having a hard time rounding up the support of young people to generate enthusiasm and votes for his reelection campaign, no doubt because this time around, he’s forced to run on his record, verses vague promises of "hope" and "change."

Berks County Commissioners: Amend PA Prevailing Wage Law
Taxpayers would benefit tremendously if Pennsylvania amended a Prevailing Wage Act that forces local and county government to pay high union wages for public projects, often sending work to out-of-area firms.
"House Bill 1329 would allow county dollars to be used more effectively for these projects, as well as, reduce the pressure on local property tax dollars. We encourage our state representatives to vote yes on House Bill 1329," according to all three Berks County commissioners, including the board's lone Democrat.

Real unemployment rate is 15.1%
Don't believe the "official" unemployment rate of 8.3% for January 2012. That does not include the millions of Americans who have given up looking for work during the Obama Recession.
The real unemployment rate for January 2012 - from the Bureau of Labor Statistics - is 15.1%

Columnist: Choking on Obamacare
George F. Will on how Obamacare is one of many job-killing initiatives imposed on U.S. employers by Barack Obama and Congressional Democrats:According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, by 2008 the cost of federal regulations had reached $1.75 trillion. That was 14 percent of national income unavailable for job-creating investments. And that was more than 11,000 regulations ago.Read the full column at the link below:

Opinion: Don't be fooled by the latest jobless numbers
From an excellent op-ed published in the West Chester Daily Local News on the misleading unemployment numbers released by the Obama Administration:
The technical reason the number of unemployed declined is that more than 350,000 people stopped looking for work last week and are no longer being carried on the books. In fact, if the total number of people who have stopped looking for work over the past few years were being counted (either because they are being sustained by endless unemployment insurance benefits or are simply discouraged because the economy IS moribund), the more accurate unemployment figure is closer to 17 percent ... (Table U-6 — Total unemployed, plus all persons marginally attached to the labor force, plus total employed part time for economic reasons, as a percent of the civilian labor force plus all persons marginally attached to the labor force, from Bureau of Labor Statistics).Don't be fooled by the latest numbers - dailylocal.com
The jobless rate has now remained above 8 percent since February 2009, the longest stretch since monthly records began in 1948. Additionally, there are still 5.7 million long-term unemployed (jobless for 27 weeks and over), which represents 43 percent of the total unemployed and the average duration of unemployment rose to 40.9 weeks, the highest on record.

Drop In Unemployment A Statistical Fluke?
Investor's Business Daily says the drop in the U.S. unemployment rate from 9% to 8.6% is not much of an improvement.
"On closer inspection, the decline is highly questionable — and doesn't warrant a surge in optimism," the newspaper says.

Rep. Pitts on Nov. Unemployment Figures
The Obama Administration announced Friday that U.S unemployment decreased to 8.6 percent in the month of November, sending a tingle up the legs of liberal media types everywhere. Nationwide, 120,000 jobs were created. However, participation in the labor pool dropped from 64.2 percent to 64 percent.
Rep. Joe Pitts, R-PA, released the following statement:
Rep. Joe Pitts, R-PA, released the following statement:
"While it was good to see the unemployment rate moving in the right direction, there are still more than 13 million Americans looking for jobs. Many of them have been trying hard to get a job for months or even years. In part, the unemployment rate fell because some Americans simply decided to stop looking. This is unacceptable. There is much we have to do in Washington to encourage a climate of job creation. I recently updated my plan for job growth, which is available on my website, www.house.gov/Pitts. Restoring our economy and creating jobs must continue to be Congress’ first priority."

'Worst job record of any president'
Buried deep in a "Fact Check" column in the pro-Obama Washington Post:
Unless the economy turns around in the next 18 months, Obama is on track to have the worst jobs record of any president in the modern era. That would be an accurate statement.

Democrats Good At Pointing Fingers
Pennsylvania Democrats are pointing fingers at Gov. Tom Corbett (in office for just 9 months about Pennsylvania's sorry jobs totals, but the Commonwealth Foundation points out this fact:
Democrats controlled the Pennsylvania House from 2006 to 2010, with Gov. Rendell (a Democrat) in office. During that time, the state lost 137,000 jobs, and the unemployment rate doubled from 4.2 percent to an abysmal 8.5 percent.Read more here.
