Study: 'Cash for Clunkers' another Obama failure
From The Hill newspaper:
A study released on Wednesday found that President Obama's Cash for Clunkers rebate system for old cars was an ineffective stimulus program.Study: 'Cash for Clunkers' clunked | TheHill
The study, conducted by the Brookings Institution, found that the $2.85 billion Cash for Clunkers program only created 0.7 jobs for each million dollars the federal government spent.
The ratio translated to a rate of $1.4 million for each job, which the authors of the study said was a very expensive stimulus.
Tea Party Group Urges 'No' Vote on PA Supreme Court Justices
The Independence Hall Tea Party PAC based in Philadelphia is urging Pennsylvania voters to vote 'No' on retention of two Pennsylvania Supreme Court justices seeking new terms on Nov. 5. Group Urges 'No' Vote on Retention of PA Supreme Court Justices
The reason the group opposes Ron Castille and Max Baer is their failure to implement Voter ID in Pennsylvania. The Voter ID law was passed by both chambers of the Legislature and signed into law by Gov. Tom Corbett in 2012, but the Supreme Court put the law on hold for both the 2012 and 2013 election cycles while a lower court hears objections filed by Democrats and the ACLU.
Castille and Baer should face the price for interfering with the will of the people, argues the tea party group.
Here is a press release issued by the group:

Castille and Baer should face the price for interfering with the will of the people, argues the tea party group.
Here is a press release issued by the group:
The Independence Hall Tea Party PAC is urging a 'No' vote on retention of PA Supreme Court Justices Ron Castille (R) and Max Baer (D) in Tuesday's November 5, 2013 election due to their failure to uphold the Voter ID law enacted by the Pennsylvania Assembly and signed by Governor Tom Corbett (R).
"The Independence Hall Tea Party worked extremely hard to help get Voter ID passed--beginning in November 2010," said PAC President, Don Adams.
"We have contacted over 170 Tea Party and Patriot groups across Pennsylvania to ask that they join us in urging the rejection of Justices Ron Castille and Max Baer for their role in obstructing the implementation of the Voter ID law in both the 2012 and 2013 Pennsylvania Primary and General Elections," said PAC President, Don Adams.
According to Pennsylvania law, Chief Justice Ron Castille, age 69, is required to retire from the Supreme Court upon his 70th birthday.
"The PAC is urging voters to give both justices an early retirement for thwarting the will of the people and Pennsylvania law by refusing to implement Voter ID.
"Polls consistently show that Pennsylvanians favor Voter ID by overwhelming margins. A September 2012 Quinnipiac/NY Times/CBS Poll showed that 62% of Pennsylvanians approve the law, while 35% oppose.
Additionally, 99% of those interviewed stated that they possessed a state issued photo identification and 1% did not," said Adams.
"Despite these figures, the PA Supreme Court, with the votes of both Justices Castille and Baer, has seen fit to obstruct Voter ID implementation in four election cycles by twice remanding that a lower court review the law's merit, with specific stipulations of the high court, based on a questionable legal challenge.
"The PA Supreme Court did not even have the courage to rule on the law itself. Instead, it is hiding behind the rulings of lower court judges.
"This is completely unacceptable behavior and the voters of Pennsylvania will have a chance to say 'No' to the Justices who said 'No' to Voter ID."
"Undoubtedly, Justices Castille and Baer will spend a small fortune on the retention vote. We will be limited to word of mouth and free social media.
But since 2013 is a low turnout election year, and voters, in general, are not in a good mood, we hope to prevail.

Doctors' Group Decries Obamacare 'incompetence'
Jane M. Orient, M.D., Executive Director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, issued the following statement today after HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius' testimony before a Congressional committee:
"Secretary Sebelius states that the Affordable Care Act, which can't produce a functional Web site, is going to fix the 'delivery system.' Once people get corralled into Obama-compliant health plans, doctors will be automatically made smarter, more efficient, and less costly. She herself must be Wonder Woman. One day, she says they really needed six years to do the Web site, then she claims it will be fixed in only six weeks!
"Can incompetence really be this gross? Or is the true objective being achieved? Do they really want more uninsured people, more Medicaid dependents, and the wreckage of both private insurance and private medicine?
"Obama’s supporters appear to think that there is no problem with breaking clear promises, like being able to keep your health insurance, if you can just change the meaning to 'you can't keep the insurance you like, but you'll be able to buy something we like for twice the cost.'
"If Obama can rewrite the law as he likes, why stop with delaying the employer mandate and forcing still more people into the individual mandate? Can he go all the way to single payer, all by himself?
"The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) filed suit today to challenge Obama's violation of the constitutional separation of powers by legislating from the White House."

Pa. judges don't expect to feel ire of voters
Ron Castille, the chief justice of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, is the man most responsible for derailing Pennsylvania's redistricting plan (which allowed Democrats to win more seats in the state Legislature in 2012) and the state's new Voter ID law (which allowed Barack Obama to capture more than 100 percent of the vote in some Philadelphia precincts). Do you think Castille deserves another term on the Supreme Court? You can vote NO to retain Castille on Nov. 5.

The high cost of ObamaCare deception
John Hayward on the unraveling of Obamacare:
President Obama's Rose Garden press conference on the ObamaCare disaster featured a group of 13 human props, lined up on stage behind him to put a face on the alleged virtues of his health care scheme. It turns out none of them had actually purchased an ObamaCare insurance plan, and only three of them had even completed the application process. The high cost of ObamaCare deception | RedState
What a perfect summary of the disastrous incompetence and fundamental dishonesty of Barack Obama's "signature achievement!" Three weeks in, his gigantic political team couldn't find any actual "happy customers." They had to settle for a couple of people who look forward to maybe doing some shopping on the exchanges one of these days. They might not like what they find, assuming they can cudgel anything but a stream of error messages from the system.

Thorns to Pa. school board for throwing taxpayer money away
From the editorial page of The Pottstown Mercury:
THORNS to the Upper Perkiomen School Board for paying out an overly generous retirement package in 2012 to former schools Superintendent Tiimothy Kirby, as noted in a report to the school district by Pennsylvania Auditor General Eugene DePasquale. DePasquale characterized the package as “the latest example of school boards bestowing superintendents with excessive contractual benefits rather than investing the money into classroom education.” Specifically, he noted Kirby was paid for unused sick time and granted health insurance benefits for himself and his spouse above and beyond what the district paid to the Public School Employees Retirement System. The package was more than $220,000 above the already-generous pension to which retiring superintendents are entitled. Upper Perk is not alone in this habit of treating school superintendents to grandiose contracts. The job is important, to be sure, but boards don’t owe superintendents more than taxpayers can afford.

Is Obama behind the EBT food stamp card crash?
The EBT Debit Card System, the government program for food stamps, crashes across the country on a Saturday, the busiest grocery shopping day of the week, during a government shutdown in which Obama ordered his minions to make the lives of Americans as painful as possible.
And you don't think Obama is behind the whole thing?
The initial crash was reported on Friday in 10 states, but it appears to have spread to more states Saturday. The lucrative EBT program is managed by JP Morgan Chase, a major contributor to the Obama campaign. The company blamed the problem on a computer glitch, but here we are 24 hours later and JP Morgan hasn't fixed the "glitch." Sounds a lot like the Obamacare health exchange website glitch, doesn't it?

Pa. Lawmaker Wants Maximum Speed Limit Raised To 70
As
a Pennsylvania resident, I wasn't aware there was a pressing need to
raise the state's maximum speed limit from 65 mph to 70 mph, but Senate
President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati (R-Jefferson) is pushing a bill to do
just that.
In reality, most Pennsylvania drivers do at least 70 mph on most of the state's highways, so I'm not sure what the harm would be to raising the speed limit.
Also keep in mind that Scarnati represents one of the most rural legislative districts in Pennsylvania, one that has few police officers patrolling interstate highways, so I'm sure people are already doing a lot more than 70 mph.
On the other hand, is this really the most pressing issue facing Pennsylvania residents or is this another legislator looking for something to keep himself busy with instead of tackling real issues?

On the other hand, is this really the most pressing issue facing Pennsylvania residents or is this another legislator looking for something to keep himself busy with instead of tackling real issues?
Scarnati
issued the following statement regarding his proposal to increase the maximum
speed limit on Pennsylvania interstate highways and the Pennsylvania
Turnpike:
Today I have circulated a co-sponsorship memo for legislation I intend to introduce which would increase the maximum speed limit on Pennsylvania interstate highways and the Pennsylvania Turnpike from 65 to 70 miles per hour.Increasing Pennsylvania’s maximum speed limit on interstate highways and the PA Turnpike will allow for better traffic flow and provide for greater efficiency in the delivery of goods throughout the Commonwealth. Numerous other states have already taken the step to allow for traveling at a maximum speed of 70 MPH or more.Over the last two decades since Pennsylvania’s maximum speed limit was last set, our vehicles have become more technically efficient and safety standards have continued to increase. As we move forward with this measure a significant component of the legislation will focus on ensuring necessary traffic and engineering studies are completed prior to increasing the speed limit on any stretch of highway.
Study: Obamacare could tax Berks County down the line
Mike Urban of he Reading Eagle has a fascinating story today about how Obamacare will end up screwing Berks County workers, many of whom are Democrats who supported Obama:
Berks County will pay an additional $25 million in Obamacare taxes from 2018 to 2022 unless it reduces the level of health care coverage given to its employees, according to a consultant's study.Study: Obamacare could tax Berks down the line

Newspaper won't print opinions that dispute global warming
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but if you're a reader of the Los Angeles Times, you'll have to keep those opinions to yourself - unless you share the same views as the newspaper's far-left editorial board.
In a shocking new policy that essentially censors all opinions that differ from those of the L.A. Times liberal staff, you must accept the highly-disputed view of climate change or you don't get to have a say in the newspaper.
This is how the Times' letters editor summed up the paper's policy of rejecting all opinions that do no conform:
In other words, freedom of the press is only reserved for those who own the press.

Simply
put, I do my best to keep errors of fact off the letters page; when
one does run, a correction is published. Saying "there's no sign humans
have caused climate change" is not stating an opinion, it's asserting a
factual inaccuracy.

This is a black eye for everyone who believes in the First Amendment. It's another shameful example of how liberals will not tolerate any dissent to their rigid believes.Read more at http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/attytood/The-newspaper-that-wont-print-readers-global-warming-lies.html#Ev4CLFyytWISRVRh.99
