New ID Law Approved in Michigan Would Mean Voters Have to Prove Who They Are: Republicans in Michigan have approved a strict, but very rational, voter ID law that is a Democrats’ worst nightmare. Citizens would actually have to produce photo identification to prove who they are or they can’t vote. Rep. Gary Glenn said the purpose of the law is to “protect the integrity of every single Michigan citizen’s vote, because every vote is diluted if fraudulent votes are cast.”
