'If Reading were a kingdom, there would be a revolution'

The Reading Eagle is one of the most liberal newspapers in Pennsylvania, with a long-standing history of overlooking incompetence by Democratic elected officials.

But I have to give its editorial board credit for this hard-hitting editorial on how poorly the City of Reading is run.

Just one slight oversight. Nowhere in the editorial do they mention that the mayor of Reading is a Democrat and all seven Reading City Council members are Democrats, the city controller is a Democrat, the two state representatives for the city (Caltagirone and Santoni) are Democrats and the state Senator for the city (O'Pake) is a Democrat.

Maybe if the city didn't have one-party rule, things wouldn't be so screwed up.

Read the editorial at the link below, but don't forget that the city is run entirely by Democrats so if the newspaper really wants to see some change, it should start giving Republicans and other parties a fair shake.

If Reading were a kingdom, there would be a revolution (3/4/10)

EXCELLENT OBSERVATION...AND HOW SO TRUE IT IS...BUT IN SAYING THAT, I REALLY THINK THIS CITY IS BEYOND REPAIR AND A REPUBLICAN(S) PROBABLY WON'T DO ANT BETTER EITHER...

Agreed that a Republican mayor or a few Republicans on City Council wouldn't make much of a difference now, but let's not forget that Reading - like most U.S. cities - have been run into the ground by Democrats despite billions of tax dollars spent to save these cities.
