Sex toys and booze? Call 911

Sex toys and booze on taxpayers' time. Somebody call 911. Oh, wait. The alleged debauchery occurred at the Montgomery County 911 Center. Never mind.

In the wake of the scandal involving the Bucks County 911 Center, we now have allegations that 911 dispatchers in neighboring Montgomery County held a holiday party involving alcohol and sex toys on taxpayers' time.

Photos from the party have been circulating on the Internet, prompting an investigation, according to reporter Carl Hessler.

The photographs, according to sources, depicted an employee wearing a ball gag or showed sex toys, including dildos, and bottles of liquor with employees at their workstations, Hessler writes.

"The supervisor involved has been suspended with intent to dismiss," Montgomery County Communications Director John Corcoran told Hessler "We're still looking into the matter and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken with any other employees violating county policy."

The Mercury has the exclusive story in today's edition.

The Bucks County incident involved a handicapped woman who called 911 when her bed caught fire. The phone rang seven times before anyone at the the 911 center picked it up. A dispatcher then put the woman on hold. There were at least 10 other people in the 911 center at the time.

One of the dispatchers finally picked up the frantic woman's call, but there was a delay in sending help because the dispatcher was confused about the woman's needs. The woman died in her bed. Expect a huge payday for the woman's relatives when they file a lawsuit against the county.
