With the Stop Teacher Strikes Inc. Web site still down, I found the link to the salary list for Pennsylvania teachers by going directly to the Asbury Park Press Web site and navigating to DataUniverse.com, the Asbury Park Press's public records Web site.
If you're wondering why a New Jersey newspaper would post Pennsylvania teacher salaries, it did it for comparison purposes with New Jersey teacher salaries. Salaries for both New Jersey and Pennsylvania teachers rank among the top 10 in the nation, the newspaper notes.
The titles and salaries for the 151,000 teachers and administrators in the Keystone State are available at www.DataUniverse.com under the "New Jersey Schools" section.
You can search by county or by school district or by the name of the teacher, principal or superintendent, but be prepared to spend time on the Web site. It took a long time to load and the search function is also slow.

Thank you Tony , this is so very interesting. You go to the school district and they give you a hard time about getting this kind of info, even thou it's public record!!
good info!
thanks, Tony
Tony,
You should print them out and put them in the Newspaper,Do one district a week and print all the salaries and then show the perks also
Great job Tony, you have been successful in publishing a list that is inaccurate and misleading. Salaries are incorrect and levels of education are incorrect. Stellar journalism!
I have a feeling the last reader is a teacher, someone related to a teacher or a school administrator. Why would anyone else object to releasing public information? I should correct the reader on one point. I did not publish the list of salaries. I just publicized a Web site that includes the list. If you have any concerns with the accuracy of the information, I suggest you contact the New Jersey newspaper that gathered the information.
Why are you so concerned with this matter, or anyone else for that matter. How about if you as well publish all of your information?
Bwuahaha! You're kidding, right? I looked at salaries for people with BAs and Masters making 30 to 45k on average. We're talking people in the trenches, not administrators. I'm a teacher in FL and we make 33-38 to start. Teachers don't want this info public? C'mon! It's embarrassing to make so little after such a long time in school. One of the poor sots in that database had a Masters and was making 28k. That's why I wouldn't want it published - how foolish does she look after paying all of that money for education? I'm glad I'm in FL now. I wouldn't want to have to pay those home heating bills.
Very interesting information. I am not a teacher, but I know that teacher's have to deal with a lot more than education our youth. I don't have a problem with the salaries they receive. I want to make sure my kids are receiving the best education possible -- no matter the cost.
can I copy Pennsylvania's data base into a spread sheet to do analysis? Also, do you have the subject area of the degrees? Would like to know if they have BS in Education or actually know a subject.
Wm.
i guess he didnt make it clear enough...HE DIDNT MAKE THE LIST OF SALARIES. THEY WERE COMPILED BY A NEW JERSEY NEWSPAPER. They are very accurate for the 2006-2007 school year.
Ridiculous! It is quite clear that he took someone else's misinformation and re-publsihed a bunch of bull crap. I am a teacher. I have been teaching for 9 years in the state of Pennsylvania and I don't even make $40,000 a year. If you want to know the information so badly, ask a real teacher!
Well I have seen teachers income via court documents and the site is very accurate so sounds like someone doesnt want there income public for other reasons could it be that this person is trying to make it out like they dont make that much to avoid child support possibly...
Lets see, let me work for say, nine months out of a year, the advage teacher income in our district is around $50,000 . Dont pay for benefits, pretty much have 100 percent job security, summers off, have all the holidays off during the school year. Sounds awesome. Why do they complaine?????
