The Morning-Call has an interesting story today about prominent Lehigh Valley politicians and political candidates who have fallen behind in paying their property taxes.
Tsk, tsk, tsk. The people who vote to raise property taxes are themselves delinquent in paying taxes.
It's a shame the newspaper didn't come up with any state legislators who are late in paying their taxes, but the article by Paul Muschick names an Allentown City Councilman, a Lehigh County commissioner and two commissioner candidates.
They are among 4,000 individuals and businesses who didn't pay their city and school taxes on time, according to the newspaper, which examined City of Allentown tax records.
More than $5 million in property taxes and late fees were unpaid by Dec. 31, 2007, according to the newspaper.
And there's still state lawmakers who don't believe that property tax elimination is the No. 1 issue facing Pennsylvania?
