Global warming or hot air?

One of my favorite columnists, Charley Reese, has an interesting take on the global warming hysteria creeping into all aspects of American society.

Reese's conclusion: Don't sweat it.

It's OK to be concerned about the environment and we all want clean air, but the fear tactics used by the far left and demagogues like Al Gore are out of control.

"Science, which cannot even forecast the weather with 100 percent certainty for 30 days in advance, certainly cannot do so years in advance," Reese says of the dire predictions that our coasts will be swallowed up by oceans.

Reese also offers this for the Chicken Littles who want to indoctrinate our school children about the end of the world:

"Well, how about the consensus among scientists? Reality is not determined by a majority vote. Anyone familiar with history knows that the 'scientific consensus' has often been dead wrong. The Earth, it turns out, is not flat; the sun does not revolve around the Earth; surgeons really should wash their hands and sterilize their instruments; and some diseases can be prevented by vaccinations."

And this for political candidates (are you listening Barack Obama?) who want to tax Americans to clean up pollution created by people in other countries.

"Nothing we can do in the short run is going to have any effect."
