Legislative 'scoundrels' approve budget of convenience
Kudos to state Rep. Tom Quigley and the other lawmakers who voted against the proposed budget that was just signed by Gov. Ed Rendell.
It seems that most politicians seem to treat such matters as a joke and this one is a real biggie. Instead of enacting real cuts, we have had the reserves raided to the tune of $1.5 billion.
I'd like to see how these scoundrels run their personal budgets. I can just picture where my family would be if we were to do this: "Honey, I sure would like to go to Hawaii for a few weeks or so but we really can't afford it. Look, don't worry we can make it work, we'll just take the monies that we put aside for heating oil, car insurance, home owners insurance, life insurance, health insurance, property taxes, school taxes, and other unknown emergencies that may come up in the future to pay for it. We'll just go and have a great time and let the future take care of itself!"
This is exactly what this new budget that was signed by Gov. Rendell did for our future. Evidently it was a lot more convenient to use the surplus instead of some real belt tightening. I hope that my fellow citizens are as overjoyed about this as I.
