Let's figure out a way to kill the construction industry during one of the worst economic slowdowns in U.S. history.
In another move designed to pander to the labor unions that got him elected, President Obama signed an executive order forcing projects that receive federal funding to use union-only labor.
That puts people out of work. That prevents construction from going up. That prolongs the recession.
"Today's decision to repeal Executive Order 13202 opens the door to waste and discrimination in federal and federally funded construction contracts," said Associated Builders and Contractors President and CEO Kirk Pickerel. "This action removes the safeguards that prohibited discrimination based upon union affiliation in the awarding of federal contracts.

The trenching industry that utilizes wheel trenchers is completely non-union, so by requiring labor to be unionized in order to receive federal funding, if he needs foundations trenched, only backhoes will be available due to the union only rule. This will, in turn, increase the amount of time it will take to trench the foundations, which in turn will increase the cost of the project. Also, wages of unionized workers are much higher, again increasing the overall cost of the projects. In the long run, his decision eliminates most of the work force available, and increases the overall cost of the projects. Not very bright, in my opinion.
I get the feeling that Obama was put in by the dems for several reasons:
1. It allows the dems to feel good that a black is president due to their compassion for minorities. Maybe it is really guilt for past democrat hostilities towards African Americans.
2. It gives people like Pelosi and Reid a chance to "use" someone to pass their liberal agenda. Anyone who objects, is called a racist.
3. It gets more votes from the "victim" classes that the dems actually helped to create.
4. If something goes wrong, they can blame Obama.
