Thanks to Sens. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania and Olympia Snow and Susan Collins, both of Maine, (all three well-known RINOs - Republican In Name Only), the U.S. Senate voted 61-37 today to pass the $838 billion Barack Obama/Nancy Pelosi "stimulus" plan.
The bill goes to a House/Senate conference committee where the two chambers will reconcile $108 billion in "cuts" the Senate made to the original bill passed in the House, without a single Republican member of Congress supporting it.
The House version was $819 billion while the Senate version totals $838 billion. That's why "cuts" is in quote marks. No one actually reduces spending in Washington.
If the bill fails to jump-start the U.S. economy, look for a dramatic comeback by the GOP in the 2010 Congressional elections and a failed one-term Obama presidency.
