His replacement, Roland Burris, reportedly lied about his ties to former Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

When Mr. Burris was named, he told an Illinois House impeachment committee considering Blago's demise that he never had spoken to the governor's brother or other aides about the seat. But a Burris affidavit released over the weekend shows he did just that.It's clear the only way to break the cycle of corruption is to elect a Republican to the Senate in 2010.
Legislative Republicans are calling for a perjury investigation. And they should get it. But even if they don't -- and even if Burris should somehow survive -- this sets up Republicans just fine and dandy to challenge the Chicago-style of politics that always seems to treat truth as a piddling thing.

Balago's first step in getting even with the party that did not support him. Did Balago use Burris? Could that be why Harry Reid objected to Burris?
