The abortion president

This Letter to the Editor, originally published in The Pottstown Mercury, exposing the myth that Barack Obama is the man of the people. There's a segment of society that is not represented in Obama's America.
Early indications Obama does not represent all the people

On Jan. 20, America once again proved that democracy works as we witnessed the peaceful transfer of power as the new president was inaugurated.

President Obama has proclaimed himself the president for all the people of America a worthy statement. Within 36 hours, he signed an executive order which would release funds for assistance to off shore programs in support of abortion. I question his ability to be for all the people when it is a scientific fact that the fetus is a living person.

Subsequently, hundreds of thousands of Americans of all faiths descended on Washington to participate in the Right to Life march. The Obama administration did not even acknowledge the presence of these people who were speaking for the defenseless of America.

Furthermore, while The Mercury had columns addressing the fashions of the new administration, it could not find room for one comment on the march even though many Pottstown residents boarded buses and went to Washington to participate.

The Holocaust was a travesty to mankind when six million Jews, and countless other millions of ethnic groups, priests, gypsies and the infirmed were murdered.

America is facing a travesty of greater proportion when tens of millions of unborn children have been killed since the Roe vs. Wade case legalized abortion in America.

We are about to see a bill supported by the president, The Freedom of Choice Act, to be put before the Congress. This bill, which basically removes all limits on abortion, is the first step to legalization of euthanasia and redefining the value of life. Americans must establish for the new president that this is wrong and he must be held accountable for the deaths it will cause.

It is time for the Mercury to provide equitable coverage for all sides of issues and be the paper for all of the people of this region.
