"Last night, Barack Obama declared himself the presumptive Democrat nominee and the Republican Party of Pennsylvania looks forward to matching up his extreme liberal record up against John McCain's long resume of accomplishments," Gleason said in a written statement. "Despite having the nomination practically wrapped up for over a month, Obama lost numerous primary contests and failed to win key states, including Texas, Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, Kentucky and of course Pennsylvania. He lost Kentucky by 35 points, West Virginia by 41 points, and was just thrashed in Puerto Rico by 36 points."
With Hillary Clinton (and her 18 million votes) refusing to concede, Obama may have to battle his own party before he turns attention to John McCain.
Gleason continues:
"It appears that the more people learn about Obama, the more they refuse to support him. Many key constituencies that are necessary for a winning coalition in November have voted overwhelmingly against Obama in the Democrat primaries and that is a problem that will follow him into the General Election.
"Pennsylvanians will have a clear choice to make in November. They can vote for Obama, who stands for higher taxes, more government and has no experience or they can vote for John McCain, who stands for lower taxes, fiscal responsibility, and is someone who has a proven record of delivering real results for the people of this country. The choice is simple, and I believe Pennsylvanians will overwhelmingly support John McCain on November 4th, 2008."
