Lawmaker offers to share his lunch

Politicians are always talking about constituent service. Here is a sharp contrast between two state lawmakers.

There's an interesting letter to the editor in today's edition of The Mercury from a man who says he has been trying to get in touch with state Rep. Tim Hennessey since December, but the veteran lawmaker can't seem to find the time to address his constituents' needs.

Hennessey, a Republican, has been flying under the radar for years, but faces a Democratic opponent in November. I'm guess the letter writer won't be voting for Hennessey. Read the full letter here.

Contrast that with a caller I spoke to on a radio show this week. The caller said he attended the taxpayer rally in Harrisburg on Monday and then stopped by to talk to his state representative, Tom Quigley.

The caller said Quigley not only interrupted his lunch to speak to the constituent, but Quigley even offered to share his meal. Now that's what I call constituent service. Quigley also has a Democratic opponent in the fall, but he shouldn't have to worry about winning another term.
