The Ron Paul (remember him?) 2008 Presidential Campaign Committee issued a press release today touting the fact that the Texas Congressman continues to attract voters even though John McCain clinched the GOP presidential nomination months ago.
From Paul's campaign:
Presidential candidate Ron Paul received a total of over 45,000 votes in the final three Republican presidential primaries on June 3. Dr. Paul's strongest showing was in Montana, where he garnered 22 percent of the vote, followed by 17 percent in South Dakota and 14 percent in New Mexico respectively."Dr. Paul's grassroots supporters across the country are doing a tremendous job spreading our message, winning votes, and laying a strong foundation for the future," said campaign spokesman Jesse Benton.
Paul has received more than 1 million votes in Republican presidential contests.
There's no doubt that Ron Paul probably elicited the most excitement of any GOP candidate in 2008. Paul is a proven fundraiser and has been able to mobilize thousands of volunteers across the country.
There's a lot of names being tossed around for the VP slot on the GOP ticket. Most of them (Mitt Romney, Joe Lieberman, Tom Ridge) have elicited yawns from voters.
Maybe John McCain should consider the Texas Congressman as his vice presidential running mate.

Ron Paul would be an interesting choice. i never liked him until I have been faced with the reality of a McCain presidency. I think Paul can real him in on some issues. And hey extra money can't hurt.
This is extremely laughable at best. Why on earth would a true conservative constitutionalist run with a liberal as a vp on a ticket. lmao!
You could do a lot worse than Ron Paul. Tom Ridge comes to mind.
It won't happen but I wouldn't object.
I like it a hell of a lot better than a Obama/Clinton ticket. I personally have had enough of both Clintons.
Why would Ron Paul run as a VP for a loser like McCain?
