In defense of lobbyists

Are those villainous lobbyists just misunderstood?

To hear Barack Obama talk, lobbyists (and not politicians) are the cause of most the nation's ills.

But Michael Barone, writing in Investor's Business Daily, says "The government could not sensibly do business without lobbyists — as Hillary Clinton recognized at the YearlyKos convention last August."

Lobbying is as American as apple pie, going back to colonial times, Barone writes.

There is no problem with lobbyists talking to anyone ingovernment. It is free speech. The problem is their money and its corruption influence.
