'Hamburgler' who stole $14,000 faces prison, restitution

He should have stuck to ordering something from the dollar menu.

A Pottstown man who stole $14,000 from a McDonald's restaurant is not only facing up to 23 months in jail, but he has to pay back every dollar he stole from the restaurant's safe, a judge has ruled.

Authorities alleged Keith Michael Graber, 21, conspired with Cory Harvey, a former McDonald’s employee, during the theft, says reporter Carl Hessler Jr.

Harvey, 23, who lived with Graber, allegedly provided Graber with information about the location of the restaurant’s safe and other information about business operations to assist in the burglary, according to court papers.

"This was absolutely brazen. (Graber) climbs in through the drive-thru window and he goes into the safe and walks away with the bag that contained $14,000," Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney Anthony Gil told Hessler. "He leaves right through the same window. It’s one of the most brazen things someone can do."

Prosecutors alleged Graber and Harvey used the money to buy marijuana, a laptop computer, iPods and other electronics.
