Gambling board exec hits the jackpot

The former executive director of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is walking away from the job with a $120,000 windfall, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

The newspaper obtained a copy of the "separation agreement" between the Gaming Control Board and Anne Neeb and discovered that Ms. Neeb will continue to receive a monthly base pay of $15,000 for four months, through Oct. 3 even though she quit her job on June 6.

Neeb, who started her $180,000-a-year job in September 2005, will also get a lump sum payment of four months' pay, equal to $60,000, according to reporter Andrew Conte.

If all this sounds funny, you're not alone.

Republican lawmakers are calling for an investigation and the immediate termination of Neeb's contract, meaning she won't get any more money for not working, according to the Harrisburg Patriot-News.

Reporter Jan Murphy says GOP lawmakers also want the current chairwoman of the Gaming Control Board to resign.

"I've had enough," Rep. Mike Vereb, R-Montgomery, told the newspaper. "The integrity of the gaming board has gone downslope. It's time now for Chairwoman (Mary) Colins to resign and I implore anyone that has any ability to get into her ear to ask her to step down immediately. This is the only way, the only remote possibility we have of restoring integrity to the gaming board."
