Found: An honest Democrat

"The elitist liberals (in the Democratic Party) always find a way to ruin the process." -- U.S. Rep. Tim Holden, D-PA.

What is Tim Holden, who represents Pennsylvania's 17th Congressional District, doing in the Democratic Party?

This man is too honest to be associated with the Democrats.

In a column by John Forester Jr. published Sunday in the Reading Eagle, Rep. Holden, who is one of the few superdelegates who have not committed to Sen. Barack Obama, questioned how the Democratic Party picks its presidential candidates.

"Honestly, this is a flawed and foolish process," Holden told Forester. "The Republicans have it right with the primaries - winner take all and it's over early. The way the Democrats do it, it's undemocratic. The elitist liberals (in the party) always find a way to ruin the process."

More from Holden in Forester's column:
Holden believes the Democrats began getting off course in 1976, when they set up rules designed to be inclusive.

But, instead, these complex rules resulted in a system that Holden says excludes delegates who would otherwise be elected. The rules set up quotas for delegates based on gender, ethnicity and district voting records.

And it created the superdelegates - an arbitrary upper-class of party celebrities, officeholders and possibly major donors - who are not necessarily committed to any particular candidate but who are wooed by all.

Holden, an eight-term incumbent, is facing a Republican opponent in November: Toni Gilhooley.

I find it hard to believe that Holden, who is pro 2nd Amendment, pro-life and in favor of seeing the Iraq war through to a successful conclusion could in any way support Barrack Hussein Obama. If he does, he is no better than any of his liberal Democrat buddies who put their party and politics above their own beliefs and their country. I wonder if he will actually vote for McCain when he gets into the voting booth where there will be no party officials looking over his shoulder? What a statement he could make if he just came out and endorsed McCain...

Excellent observation by RS. What will the Blue Dog Democrats do about Barack Obama? He stands for higher taxes, more spending, he's pro-abortion. He wants to reduce military readiness and cut the U.S. nuclear arsenal. He wants to negotiate with terrorists and surrender in Iraq. How can any middle-of-the-road Democrat support someone so far to the left?
