Top aides bailing out on Rendell

John Micek has a interesting analysis in The Morning Call about why so many high-level Rendell Administration officials are jumping ship.

Rendell is entering the lean years of his second term. The euphoria of his re-election has faded. His second-term agenda has stalled.

The prospect of Republicans controlling both houses of state Legislature in 2009 and beyond are strong, especially in the wake of Thursday's indictment of 12 Democratic officials for corruption.

It's getting harder for Rendell and Co. to get out of bed these days.

So expect more top administrators to leave state government for lucrative corporate jobs. It's a revolving door between top government jobs and the corporate world.

And do you get the sense that Rendell's top aides know something we don't?

Is Rendell himself getting read to jump ship and take on a job with the Barack Obama Administration?
