Tony Snow dies at 53

Longtime Fox News anchor and former White House Press Secretary Tony Snow died today at age 53.

Because of his much-publicized battle with cancer, Snow's death isn't the kind of shock that Tim Russert's was earlier this year, but it's no less sad.

Snow has been battling colon cancer since 2005.

President Bush issued this statement on learning of Snow's passing:
"Laura and I are deeply saddened by the death of our dear friend Tony Snow. The Snow family has lost a beloved husband and father. And America has lost a devoted public servant and a man of character."
Snow was a fixture on Fox News for years before taking on the impossible job of making George W. Bush look good as White House spokesman.
