State rep feels he has to defend budget vote

Something odd about a state legislator having to defend is vote on the $28.3B Rendell budget. Does he know he made the wrong decision? Does he think the voters are on to him?

Republican State Rep. Jay Moyer is in a tough fight for re-election for a Montgomery County legislative seat. He wrote a letter to The Mercury defending his "yes" vote on Rendell's deficit budget.

"At the end of the day, we were able to meet Pennsylvania's priority needs without asking Pennsylvania's taxpayers to turn more of their hard-earned money over to the government," Moyer says. "In my view, that is a budget of which we can all be proud."

Let's see if Moyer feels the same way when the state is sitting on a $1 billion budget deficit and the Legislature has to raise taxes next year to make up for Rendell's reckless spending.
