Newspaper: Lawmakers continue to ignore property tax relief

As the Pennsylvania Legislature prepares to wind down another unproductive session, The Mercury wants to know what happened to promises that property tax relief would be given consideration.

The disconnect between taxpayers in this region and the representatives from the entire commonwealth remains a huge divide.

What lawmakers fail to realize is the property tax issue and its companion issue of how public schools are funded affects everyone in Pennsylvania. The two issues have the potential to instill equality in public schools and boost the economy by ending reliance on an antiquated property tax.
