Look for GOP to retake majority in PA House

Now we know how the Democrats won a majority in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 2006. They cheated.

Read Attorney General Tom Corbett's lengthy announcement of the "Bonusgate" indictments and you come away with an unbelievable scheme by Democratic leaders to lie, cheat and steal their way to victory.

The Philadelphia Inquirer offers an interesting analysis on the political fallout from the "Bonusgate" scandal.

Even by using taxpayer dollars to fund a secret campaign to recapture the majority, the Democrats managed to win a razor-thin 102-101 majority in the House in 2006. They were in danger of losing control to the GOP before the "Bonusgate" scandal broke. Now, it's going to be nearly impossible for the Democrats to hold their majority now that they're known as the party of corruption.

Tim Potts, founder of the reform group Democracy Rising, said he believed the crisis could create trouble for Democrats in a presidential election year that favors them.

"It's hard to see how Democrats keep control of the House," said Potts, "unless they decide to promote an integrity agenda."

This is a state version of the Watergate scandal and we all know what happened to the Republican Party in the 1976 elections.
