Toomey raises $1M in 60 days

Democrat Arlen Specter still holds an overwhelming fundraising advantage (Arlen has been running for Senate for at least 50 years, right?), but Republican Pat Toomey is holding his own.

The Toomey for Senate campaign has announced it has raised $1 million over a 60-day perior and (take that, Arlen!) has hired a former Specter fundraiser as its finance director.

From a press released issued today:
The U.S. Senate candidate Pat Toomey announced a number of exciting fundraising developments. The campaign has raised over $1 million in less than 60 days since Toomey declared his candidacy. Over 11,000 individuals have contributed to the campaign already. Toomey also is pleased to announce the hiring of Arlen Specter’s former long-time Finance Director, Louisa Boyd, to fill its top fundraising position.

In addition, long-time Pennsylvania Republican fundraisers Amy Petraglia and Carey Dunn have signed on with the Toomey campaign. Petraglia and Dunn have helped raised money for a number of statewide Pennsylvania candidates, including Rick Santorum, Lynn Swann, and Arlen Specter.

"I am honored by out the outpouring of support for my campaign," said Toomey. "Thousands of people all across Pennsylvania and the country are rallying to our message of fiscal responsibility and bringing much-needed balance in Washington . I am also very excited to add new members to our team and look forward to working with Louisa, Amy, and Carey over the next year and a half."
