I was driving near my house the other day and saw an Obama lawn sign. Nothing odd about that. I live in a heavily Democratic area. Right next to the Obama sign was a campaign sign for Mike O'Pake for Pennsylvania Senate.
I can understand the desire to send an outsider to Washington, but why would the same person support support a state lawmaker who has been in office for 40 years?
Why support somebody who has been embroiled in the Harrisburg culture for four decades when the majority of Pennsylvanians believe the state Legislature is not doing a good job?
This kind of schizophrenic behavior on the part of Democrats has always puzzled me. If you truly believe in change, why settle for more of the same in state government?
O'Pake is seeking another four-year term representing Berks County's 11th state Senatorial District and is touting his experience. His opponent, Steve Fuhs, is running on a reform platform as a Harrisburg outsider.
If would make more sense for Obama supporters to also back Fuhs if they truly believe in change. Anyone care to explain what goes on inside the liberal mind?
