Do you know how long I've been waiting for this day?
The Philadelphia Phillies won their first post-season game since October 1993, beating the Milwaukee Brewers, 3-1, before a sell-out crowd at home.
Cole Hamels pitched eight shutout innings, giving up just 2 hits and striking out 9 before yielding to closer Brad Lidge, who made the game interesting. Lidge ended up striking out the side in the 9th inning, but gave up a run to the Brewers.
The last time the Phil won a post-season game was Oct. 21, 1993, taking Game 5 of the World Series over the Blue Jays. We won't talk about what happened in Game 6. Curse you, Mitch Williams!
The Phils and Brewers play again Thursday at 6:07 p.m.
