Michalis Firillas, writing at his blog, Worldview, offers some advice to small countries on how to survive in a hostile world where large countries get what they want.
The impetus for the column was the recent invasion of Georgia by Russia, but the same advice was relevant 34 years ago when Turkey invaded the tiny nation of Cyprus.
Among the words of advice: "Sovereignty is not made of kryptonite," "Independence is overrated," and "Do not be flattered by the praise of more powerful states"
