Operation Roach Motel

Montgomery County authorities arrested 25 people connected to a drug ring operating in Montgomery, Chester and Berks counties.

The alleged leader of the drug ring was identified as Rashan "Roach" Brinkley of Pottstown.

"In a lot of ways drug dealers are like roaches. We squash one and another one comes in," said Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman.

Borrowing from a 1970s television advertisement for a bug-killing product, authorities dubbed the drug trafficking investigation "Operation Roach Motel."

"Remember them saying, 'Roaches check in but they don't check out?' That's what we hope is going to happen here, that these guys are going to go to jail and that there won't be anyone to replace them on the streets," Ferman said.

"When a community is infested by drug dealers, violence is not far away. These kind of investigations are one of the things that we can do to help keep the streets safe," Ferman added.
