The biggest National Night Out celebration in Berks County will take place from 3 to 10 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, at the Antietam Valley Recreation Center, 905 Byram St., Pennside.
This is a joint event sponsored by the Exeter and Central Berks Regional police departments. Residents of Exeter, Mount Penn and Lower Alsace are invited to attend the festivities.
The fields are located next to the community swimming pool.
There will be lots of activities for children, including demonstrations, games, rides and food. The event will be capped with a fireworks display.
This is the first time that Exeter and Central Berks police departments are holding a joint National Night Out event.
This is the 25th anniversary of the national anti-crime initiative. More than 11,000 communities in all 50 states are planning events to mark the annual celebration.

Given Matt Peskin's outrageous salary and other perks, you should be asking people to opt out of national night out.

I've read several accounts of how the national organizer of National Night Out has become very wealthy by licensing the name and products. But that shouldn't discourage anyone from attending local events and showing their support for police officers.
