Two veteran political observers speculate about the political future of Pennsylvania House Democratic Majority Leader Bill DeWeese.
DeWeese became majority leader after House Democrats used tax dollars for campaign work in 2006. DeWeese claims he didn't know anything about the illegal activity that was allegedly supervised by his chief of staff and his No. 2 House leader.
Ignorance or complicity? Doesn't matter. Either way, DeWeese has no future in Harrisburg, according to Brad Bumstead of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review and Brett Lieberman of The Harrisburg Patriot-News.
Read Bumstead's column, "Can Bill DeWeese survive?" at the newspaper's Web site.
Read Lieberman's "Is the dam about to break over Bill DeWeese?" at his blog.

Bill DeWeese was re-elected to Harrisburg by a biiger mnargin than 2005, showing his people still believe in his job performance in harrisburg.
So much for his R.I.P. by plitical Pundits. However, the same cannot be said for others.
It looks to me Veon has now turned on his own Democrats to save himself instead of Republicans, it looks like sour grapes.
Veon Lawyers are targeting Deweese because DeWeese brought in his own investigators when he learned his name was forged, kept in the dark on secret computer operations set up by Manzo, and other things behind his back.
DeWeese refused any cover up and brought in two former prosecutors to find the underlying cause of things. At a great price to himself, Deweese went up against his own Whip and hired a former Inspector General and prosecutor to root out wrongdoing and put in new reforms to make sure it will not happen again.
When you read the Grand Jury Findings, you actually see Veon operated secret campaigns against Democrats such as Jimmy Albert of Hopewell, and other political people like Nader and Romanelli, his own aides he hired have turned State Witnesses. Veon was a sneak, got caught, and seems to be convicted senator Vince Fumo clone.
I have not seen any Legislator send state employees on state pay and time to haul Veon’s motorcycles to Sturgis, Idaho?
I have not seen any Legislator sign a lease for a cigar store office that nobody knew about, even the Lessor was surprised when he saw Veon signed with state money?
Veon like Fumo used State money for alleged Private Gain, and he should Plea instead of point fingers. A Jury of his Peers will never accept how he used employees for his Private Use are the Motorcycles Alone.
Veon’s own employees that cut deals with Attorney General Office will tell the truth, there is little to nothing Veon’s Lawyers can do that about now.
The only thing Mike Veon had in coomon is with Convicted Senator Vince Fumo, using State Resources for Private Gain.
