One of the most closely watched Legislative races in Berks County is the contest between state Rep. Sam Rohrer (R-128th Dist.) and Democratic challenger John Woodward, a tavern owner who was well-funded in his bid to unseat Rohrer.
The race was tight when initial reports came in after the polls closed at 8 p.m., but Rohrer is pulling away in the race.
With 50 percent of the precincts reporting, Rohrer has 8,484 votes (52%) to Woodward's 7,843 votes (48%).
Woodward ran a nasty campaign, sending out misleading mailings about Rohrer's record as leader of the movement to eliminate property taxes.
