Obama's Tax Hikes Are 'Idiotic, Not Patriotic'

RightChange.com, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization "dedicated to helping Americans break through politicians' spin surrounding complex policy issues" has some choice words for Sen. Joe Biden's recent comments that patriotic Americans should pay more in taxes.

"The economy is weak. Our financial markets are in crisis. Small businesses, families and individual investors are watching their accounts dwindle and the best policy proposal from Senators Obama and Biden is to take more money from them?, RightChange.com Executive Director Tim Pittman said in a written statement.

"Increasing taxes on millions of Americans when our economy is struggling isn't patriotic, it's idiotic. You don't have to have a Ph.D. to understand that. This is the wrong time for tax increases; this is wrong policy for millions of workers and small businesses; and, it's the wrong type of change for America.

Pittman continues: Respected economists and think tanks have clearly said that Sen. Obama's tax hikes would raise tax rates on many American small businesses up to 62 percent -- a rate higher than Wal-Mart, reduce the after-tax wages of more than 10 million workers by an average of $5,650, and, with the elimination of the Social Security earnings cap, hit 97,065 carpenters, 110,908 police officers, 254,992 nurses, 208,562 postsecondary teachers and 237,000 dentists with yet another government bill.

"Is this really the change we need?" Pittman asks.

RightChange.com urges Senator Biden to support lower, not higher, taxes on American families.
