Average property tax relief is now $190

Turns out Gov. Ed Rendell was just teasing us a couple of weeks ago when he announced that the average Pennsylvania homeowner would receive $169 in property tax relief this year from the casino revenues.

The governor was holding out on us. It's now up to a whopping $190 for the average homeowner. The range in savings for the 2008-09 school year goes from $54 to $623 depending on what part of the state you live.

Talk about a stimulus package. How are you going to spend that $190? Maybe paying for the property tax increase your local school board is planning? Or you might splurge on some gas for the car. Pennsylvania residents pay 50 cents in state and federal taxes for each gallon of gas they pump.
