165 million cups of coffee?

You know how people keep saying that a gallon of coffee costs more than a gallon of gas, as if anyone is going to drink a gallon of coffee. But those smart-asses may be right.

Say goodbye to the 99-cent cup of joe.

Skyrocketing gas prices have taken their toll on coffee drinkers.

The Associated Press is reporting that Wawa is razing coffee prices by 6 cents a cup starting Monday.

Wawa officials told the news service that rising general costs associated with coffee, including higher fuel and transportation costs, have forced the convenience store chain to raise prices.

Wawa operates 570 stores, many with gas stations, in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia.

And according to its Web site, Wawa sells 165 million cups of coffee a year.

Quick, somebody do the math. What's 165,000,000 X 6 cents? We're not talking pocket change here.

I think I'll just walk by the coffee display at Wawa from now on and just breath in some of the aroma. There's no charge for that, right?
