Letter carriers union looking for a bailout?

Facing a $7 billion deficit this year and projected deficits of $238 billion over the next 10 years, the Postal Service is proposing an end of Saturday delivery to stop the bleeding.

But the union representing 300,000 letter carriers doesn't want to hear about any cutbacks in service that would also reduce the huge postal service workforce.

The president of National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) opposes the proposal by Postmaster General John E. Potter to eliminate Saturday delivery, and urged Congress instead to take steps that would provide "financial breathing room" while a better plan can be developed.

Sounds like the union is looking for a taxpayer bailout.
