'Avatar' sinks 'Titanic' to become top-grossing film of all time



Box office history was made this week as James Cameron's "Avatar" toppled James Cameron's "Titanic" to set the record for the top-grossing domestic film of all time.

"Avatar" now stands at $601.1 million, passing the 13-year-old record ($600.8 million) set by "Titanic" in 1997.

"Avatar" is also the most successful film overseas, passing "Titanic" to become the only film to gross more than $2 billion.
