McDonnell Wins Virginia Race for Governor

Republican Bob McDonnell defeated the Obama-backed candidate in Virginia's governor's race on Tuesday in a contest widely seen as a referendum on Barack Obama's presidency.

From FOX News:
Republican Party leaders were quick to claim the victories as a sign that Americans are rejecting Democratic policies in Washington.

"These significant victories speak to the fantastic campaigns run by Republicans across the commonwealth and the voters' clear rejection of liberal tax and spend policies that Washington Democrats are trying to force on Americans," Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele said in a statement. "The Republican Party's overwhelming victory in Virginia is a blow to President Obama and the Democrat Party. It sends a clear signal that voters have had enough of the president's liberal agenda."
