'Star Trek' beats studio estimate; Weekend box office haul is $75.2M
With actual grosses reporting, "Star Trek" beat the Sunday studio estimate of $72.5 million by $2.7 million, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com. That almost never happens. Studios usually overestimate a film's ticket sales and often revise the sales downward. We are looking a a blockbuster, folks. The actual weekend box office for "Star Trek" was $75.2 million and with the $4 million it took in at its Thursday premiere, the total box office haul so far is $79.2 million.
