From a story by Carl Hessler Jr. in The Pottstown Mercury:
NORRISTOWN — A Limerick man has admitted to using hidden cameras to secretly record the private moments of a Lower Pottsgrove woman and her teenage daughter in their home.Read the full story at the newspaper's Web site.
John Edward "Jack" Klein, 47, of Reformed Road, pleaded guilty in Montgomery County Court on Tuesday to charges of invasion of privacy and intercept communications in connection with incidents that occurred between 2008 and 2009.
The open plea means Klein, who is represented by defense lawyer Michael John, has no deals with prosecutors regarding his potential sentence.
Judge Thomas C. Branca deferred sentencing so that court officials can complete a background investigative report about Klein.
The judge will use that report to assist him in sentencing Klein later this year.
The judge also ordered Klein, at the request of prosecutors, to undergo a mental health evaluation prior to the sentencing hearing.
Klein, who remains free on $5,000 unsecured bail pending sentencing, faces a possible maximum sentence of 4½- to-nine-years in prison on the charges.
"People expect complete privacy in their own homes, especially in their bathrooms. It was a complete invasion of privacy," alleged Assistant District Attorney Abby Silverman, referring to Klein's conduct and the victims' reactions to it. "They were appalled and felt completely violated."
