Revenge is a dish best served cold

Three weeks after Montgomery County Commissioner Joe Hoeffel finished a distant fourth in a four-man race for the Democratic nomination for Pennsylvania governor, a Democrat has the last laugh on Hoeffel, who has a very thin skin when it comes to criticism.

This letter to the editor was originally published in The Mercury.
Pennsylvania voters rejected Joe Hoeffel's tired act

Joe Hoeffel, remember me? The Democrat constituent you called a liar in The Mercury? I am elated to say "I told you so." When is it going to sink in? Your act has been fully exposed and does not play anymore. Your opponents didn't even bother to address the flip flop ad or mention your name. You fell so far back in the gubernatorial race they couldn't find you with the Hubble telescope.

You only pulled in 49 percent of the Democratic vote in Montgomery County, your own county. This ought to tell you that what you considered your bastion of automatons wised to your game. So the next time you are looking to label someone a liar, look in the mirror and see the guy who was going to do away with patronage in Montco and see the guy who campaigned against the same Republican crony that you aligned yourself with. Look at your ego stroking hanger-ons that you kept creating jobs for and told you that you had a chance at the gubernatorial nomination, then you will find the real liars.

In Montco you had your shot. In three short years, your integrity regarding ethics is deeply questioned and your few remaining supporters can no longer excuse your actions as being part of politics. Your enjoinment with your political rival, the opportunist that you insisted must go, only shows me your lack of political astuteness. Thanks to the both of you, the county is facing severe financial problems in the future. So when you say you are considering the nomination for commissioner, think about giving the citizens of Montco a break and stay out.
