The tip of the iceberg
The most dangerous characteristic of an iceberg is that its true dimensions are hidden from view. Only a very small portion betrays its larger presence. The Rev. Jeremiah Wright is the visible tip of a body of sentiment that is of unknown depth and breadth. Unfortunately, this sentiment may not fully reveal itself until it kicks down the door to the oval office and presents President Obama with a list of its demands.
At best, this will be an impediment to the president's attempts at unification, and at worst, the resulting clamor could set back the dream of a color blind society by many years.
Unseen ice can sink ships, and hidden agendas can sink a presidency. While the probability of such an outcome is unknown, its consequences should be considered before April 22.
