Margaret Gibbons has a fascinating article about two more prominent Montgomery County Republicans changing their party registration to Democrat so they can vote in Pennsylvania's April 22 primary election.
Wendy G. Rothstein, the former solicitor for the county GOP Committee, is now a Democrat, according to Gibbons.
Wanting to cast her vote in the Democratic presidential primary election, Rothstein told Gibbons her registration switch is only temporary and she intends to re-register as a Republican after the April 22 primary election.
However, former Norristown GOP municipal chairwoman Frances V. Pierce's registration as a Democrat is more permanent, Gibbons reports.
"Nothing disparaging against anyone or the party, but I just felt it was time," Pierce told Gibbons. "This is Francis taking care of Francis."
Ouch. Another slap in the face of the current GOP leadership under Ken Davis?
"All the turmoil going on within the Republican Party, what is there to grasp but self-destruction," Pierce told Gibbons.
If there's anyone left in the Montgomery County Republican Party (Ken Davis? Jim Matthews? Bob Asher?) please turn the lights out as you leave.

Tony you are ill-informed as usual. If anyone is to blame for Frances' switch it is Bruce Castor, who ran a candidate against her. This lazy candidate, who ran a non-existent campaign was eventually smoked in the general election by an unknown and even lazier Democrat. Frances would have won had the committee endorsed her. So you tell me, when the Party turns their back on an african-american female, who spent years working hard and raising money for the party in exchange for a lazy do-nothing white guy, what recourse does she have? Oh yeah, and by the way, wasn't Bruce supposed to take responsibility for the losses? Last I checked, he hasn't done so.
